Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete

The Story

In a collaborative story time with Exeter YMCA, we hear Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete by James Dean and go on an adventure with Pete as he visits a fire station and rides on a firetruck, then learn how firefighters of the 18th century put out fires.

The Questions

Now that you have “read” the story, what do you think of the following questions?

  1. What should you do if your home is on fire?
  2. How do firefighters today put out fire?
  3. How would you put out a fire without a firetruck?

The History

In the 18th century before there were fire trucks and fire hydrants people would use buckets filled with water to try to put out fires! This was called a bucket brigade – watch this video to learn more.
